FILIPPINI INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION - MISANO, ITALY 4/9 JUNE 2012

This International Competition has just been held with over 600 skaters in total, including free skaters in all al categories, Inline, Couples Dance, and was a truly International event, with skaters from Argentina, Colombia, Japan, Peru, joining the European Nations.

There was a very high standard in most of the events, with medals being won by Italy, Argentina, Colombia and in Inline (Peru).

It was great to have Shingo Nishiki in the Senior Mens and he certainly entertained everyone present, together with the improved standard of Argentina and Colombia – a truly great International Event

Thank you to all those attending from outside of Europe, including the two Judges from Uruquay, Eduardo Hierro and Gustavo Delgado, who l feel sure were very happy to Judge so many skaters in the different sections!!  Also thank you to Mar co Faggioli – Member of CEPA – who had to organise all the Judges for the different Competitions, a really difficult task with so many entries, and thank you also toNicola Genchi, member of CIPA for taking part during the last part of the week.

This event, organised by Claudio and Marina Faragona, is very important for all skaters as it gives the really young skaters the chance to see the best in the World.

We hope the support of this event continues and that we have even more Countries attending next year.

CEPA - Message from Margaret Brooks

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL

AND I HOPE 2012 IS GREAT

On behalf of the European Artistic Committee i would like to thank everyone for their contribution to the Sport of Artistic Roller Skating during 2011, and look forward to the continued support of our Sport in 2012.

I thank the President of FIRS – The Right Honorable Sabatino Aracu, and the President of CERS -  Mr. Fernando Claro, both of whom are of great support to us and are always available for help and advice when necessary.

The CEPA Committee!!! without whom l could not function – Gonda, Marco, Elizabete, Teri, Carsten – all of whom do a great deal of work during the year whether it be at Competitions, Championships, Seminars, or sitting behind a computer assisting me with the running of CEPA – thank you for your work throughout the year and long may it continue.

The 2011 CEPA Seminar was great and l appreciate all the assistance that was given by the Italian Federation, providing the facilities, the skaters, the trainers -  Sara, Antonio, Lorenza, Patrick, Giovanna, Fabio, and of course Sandro who has done so much to raise our Sport of Artistic Roller Skating to greater heights than anticipated, through his choreography and dedication to so many skater’s programmes in all the disciplines of Artistic.

A special mention and thanks to Courtney Jones, OBE and Bobby Thompson, who brought a different approach to dance via their involvement in the Ice world.

Thank you to Nicola Genchi and Norio Iwakata, Members of CIPA for their attendance, and thank Nicola for all the extra work you do during the year for CEPA.

The Presidents of all the European Countries who made sure they had a representative at this Seminar all of whom contributed greatly, and to those outside of Europe, Argentina, Australia, Colombia,  Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, which made our Seminar truly International – thank you everyone.

These Presidents work hard in their own country, and l appreciate very much their support to CEPA.

The Officials! – what can l say?  Without them we would not be able to function, and the co-operation shown at events is very clear and long may this continue.

The skaters – we are seeing skaters from the very little ones to the very top improving all the time, and hopefully this will continue, with us all working together, improving the Judging, the Organisation of events, listening to our mistakes and doing something about it, always we, as a Committee, must learn and hopefully we can continue to improve on everything we do.  Nothing is perfect, but as long as we all listen to each other, respect each other, we will continue to grow.

For the first time this year we had Egypt skating in an International Competition, and also Andorra, and we look forward to seeing you in 2012.

This Sport is not rich, and we all work for the love of it and l assure you it is very much appreciated.

Special People :-

I still miss greatly, my previous Vice-President, Chris Lahej and l am sure many of you remember him with great affection.  Only this year we had to report the death of Wolfgang Grampp from Germany, who was the person who started Precision Skating in Europe and in the World.

Only the day before l left for the World Championships, l was absolutely stunned by the sudden death that day of Max Bettelle – “our” Video man who has been with us at most Competitions and Championships, and who produced wonderful, professional DVDs of our events – nothing was too much trouble for him – he was one of the nicest people l have met in our Sport and we will miss him very much indeed, as l am sure will Raniero Corbelletti, the photographer who worked with him - they came as a team and l am sure Raniero will continue with us and l thank him for his professionalism.

 HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

AND THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL

We have just finished our European Seminar for Judges and opened the invitation to Judges throughout the World to join in this.

We were delighted to have the following countries participate:
Outside of Europe: Argentina, Australia, Colombia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand,

From Europe: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Gt.Britain, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland.  Unfortunately the 2 Judges from Croatia were not allowed to attend due to University and work, but Teri Sedej will be conducting a Seminar for them within the next 2 months.

2This Seminar is held every two year, run by the European Technical Committee, Gonda Neefs (Belgium),  Marco Faggioli (Italy), Teri Sedej (Slovenia), Carsten Steins (Germany), Elizabete Claro (Portugal) who were all present.

We were happy also to have Norio Iwakata (Japan), and Nicola Genchi (Italy), both members of the World Committee, CIPA.

One trainer from each country was allowed to participate at their own expense, and in total we had 54 persons at the Seminar.

We covered Precision (conducted by Giovanna Galuppo), Show (conducted by Sandro Guerra), Pairs (conducted by Patrick Venerucci), Figures (conducted by Antonio Merlo and Sara Locandro), Free Skating (conducted by Sara Locandro and Antonio Merlo), Couples Dance (conducted by Lorenza Residori and Guests Courtney Jones OBE, and Bobby Thompson from the Ice), Solo Dance (conducted by Fabio Hollan), and Choreography (conducted by Sandro Guerra).

4All of these people did a great job for us all.1

It was organised well with much information, paperwork, demonstrations, DVDs, etc. on all the Disciplines, and everyone participated very well.   We had very long days starting at 08.15 and sometimes finishing near midnight!!

The feed back from this Seminar has been great and hopefully all will have learnt things to take back to their country for the improvement of our Sport of Artistic Roller Skating.

 GERMAN CUP INTERNATIONAL EVENT
FREIBURG – GERMANY -16/19 MAY 2012

This year we had 16 Nations taking part at this event, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, New Zealand, as well as most of the European Countries, so a truly International Event .
It was great to have Judges also from outside of Europe, Pat Wallace from Australia, and also, Susan Brooks from Australia, who stepped in at the last moment – thank you to all involved.
Medals were spread around various countries, including Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, France, Portugal, Italy, which was really nice to see.
The standard in some events was extremely high, and we were surprised to find that there were more entries in the figure events than the free skating!
This is a truly International event for figures and free skating as the categories are Cadet, Youth, Junior, Senior, for Men and Women, and the date for next year is 8-11 May 2013 – venue of course Freiburg, Germany.
Congratulations to all Skaters, Trainers, and Officials at this event, and of course to the hard working Organising Team from Freiburg, under the direction of Michael Obrecht.
